What is a managed fund?
Managed funds allow you to spread your money across a range of different assets, which would otherwise not be possible unless you had a large amount of money to invest. Managed funds enable you to access a broad range of investments including cash, fixed interest, property and shares. Your money is invested in many different companies and assets, which helps to reduce the risks involved in investing.
Managed funds pool your money with other investors' funds and give you access to specialist and experienced investment managers.
When you invest in a managed fund, you are allocated a number of units based on the amount you invest and the unit price at the time you invest. Your units represent your share of the fund, the value of which will change over time as the market value of the assets in the fund rise or fall.
